Mind Over Mattress- Be An Early Riser
As they say " Early begun is half done." This is so true. Beginning your day before sunrise sets the tone for whole of the day. Leaving the bed between 4am to 5am , hit to an open space like balcony, rooftop or nearest garden is a golden habit. This one habit have the capacity to transform your rest of life .
Early mornings are unpolluted in many ways. Negligible traffic, your own thoughts are comparatively at rest, you can think much more clearer and most likely in a new perspective too.
The time between 2am to 6am is given a specific name in our scriptures and shastras, "Amritvela/ Brahm mahurat". Our ancient Vedas and sages were very scientific and much ahead of their times, the whole world agrees upon this now a days. The celebration of international yoga day , the concept of intermittent fasting being followed by western people too . These are testimonies of the authenticity of wisdom recorded in our shastras.
The purpose of this chapter is to highlight the benefits of being an early riser.
First and foremost benefit is that our intestinal motility is at best during this time . Your stomach gets cleared naturally and completely. If one gets up late generally they have to face the issue of constipation or IBS sooner or later in life . The reason behind this is , the sun rays make our parastaltic movements sluggish. So earlier the better. Healthy intestinal motility has prudent impact on one's mental and physical health. People suffering with stomach issues can vouch for this.
Amritvela is the time to connect with nature and Supreme power. Sit in silence. Conversate with most beautiful and special creation of God and that's you yourself. Plan your day on a piece of paper- what to wear today, what to eat, the to-do list. Simple act of prioritizing on a piece of paper will declutter your mind instantly.
Most importantly , promise yourself to keep a smile on your face on most of the time of the day barring few moments where it might be beyond your mental capacity to keep the promise.
Breathe in fresh air - the nature has free oxygen reservoir for us , make use of it. Otherwise think of ICUs where people are aided with oxygen cylinders and the hefty hospital bills are making a hole in their pocket. Our body's each cell need pure oxygen. Why not to feed them adequately especially when it is coming free to us . What is stopping us , just the habit of getting up late ? Not a good deal. Conquer this habit and pave the way to a healthy and positive life. Notice the natural bounties - the trees, the bird chirping, water bodies, the orange glow in sky just prior to sunrise. These simple observations with deep concentration trigger our Chakras to be in alignment ,setting the base of our overall health.
Have a dialogue with God, talk to the Supreme power. Say thank u for everything and ask for guidance at each step. Focus on inhalation and exhalation. With each exhalation feel that you are releasing all negativity , negative thoughts, fear, pain, worry in the universe , surrendering to Supreme power. In exchange receive positivity, good health, happy thoughts , relaxed mind, oxygen in each cell of body with every round of inhalation.
Learn to meditate. In this Era of digital media there is no dearth of knowledge on this. Just learn the one which connects with you the most.
Let's think of some simple ways to win over this habit of being a late riser -
Sleep in time in the night , around 930 to 10 pm. This is a huge big challenge these days. To some readers it may sound wierd, funny and unrealistic too. But it is worth practicing.
If you sleep at 12 in midnight , try to make it 11 30 pm initially, then 11pm and so on. With in a months time you can achieve your deasirable goal.
Don't leave it in between after initial efforts. Just cling to the idea. Be stubborn to cultivate good habits.
