"Dental Treatment And Waiting Time"

Patient waiting time is an integral part of every dental OPD.
Inspite of dentist's heartiest efforts of reducing this waiting time by keeping good gaps in between appointments and making the waiting lounge more engaging by providing various multimedia options ,this waiting time still at times become a point of friction between a pleasant relationship of a doctor and patient. Sad !!!!!

The reason could be that today everyone is busy like a bee and all beings are on toes almost whole of the day. In such situations if the given appointment time gets little pushed at dentist's end due to some unavoidable clinical reasons, the patients sometimes loose their cool at the drop of hat even.
This scenario is certainly tormenting to both , the doctor and the patient as well. What is the antedote to this perennial issue ?????
At doctor's end , as mentioned above every professional tries his/ her best to avoid such moments by keeping distant appointments , making the lounge area more relaxing and engaging, gently conveying the reason behind the delay .
At patient's end, our esteemed patients need to understand few aspects of this trivial trouble which can become a concerning issue if not understood appropriately. First of all the word "PATIENT"  in itself is self explanatory that a person who has come for any treatment or check- up, needs to ' be patient'...that's why we call them "patient".

So dear patients, Just be patient!

The dental procedures are highly skilled manual treatments which need high level of precision and concentration ,even though we are equipped with microscopes, lasers and many other latest equipments and techniques. Still at times due to various unpredictable chair side reasons like restricted mouth opening of the patient, the anxiety and  fear  gripping the patient, some other sudden complications etc.,can lead to the undesired delay in the planned treatment time and hence the increased waiting time for the ones sitting in the lounge. Oh! God gracious!...Bang goes the plan!!!!!!

In such circumstances either wait for your turn patiently or if you are time pressed, please request your doctor to reschedule your appointment. An understanding and empathetic patient is an asset to every doctor. Any professional doctor feels himself / herself all the more responsible for such co- operative patients.
No point in creating a fuss over not being attended on the exact given appointment. Infact all patients need to bear one thing in mind that-

" Your appointment time is your reporting time in clinic. It is in no way your treatment time. You may have to wait for some time. Your Dentist surely values your time and is working diligently in his / her best possible capacities to treat you at earliest."
This much empathy and understanding from a patient can make massive change in the clinic environment and the result would be a more peaceful and efficient dentist who can  give you better smiles back.
So, keep your Dentist stress- free and pave the way for more enriching and sparkling smiles!!!!!
Someone has rightly said...
"The behaviour while you wait for your turn shows your real -self."

wishing everyone ...
SMILING and PATIENT WAITING!!!
